Merry Christmas!

WOW, another year almost done. We have so much to be thankful for. We may not have a huge mansion on the hill, the fanciest of cars, the latest and greatest gadgets, but we have 3 happy and healthy children that remind us each and everyday of God's love for us.
I am enclosing our annual Christmas letter to catch you up on our family this past year. Of course if you regularly read this BLOG or see my facebook postings, you know more than you wish too, I'm sure. Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy 2011!

Here are the latest and greatest updates from this year:

Marissa is almost 12 and is in the 6th grade. We officially have a middle schooler now. Marissa is in honors classes and has taken up the clarinet in the school band. She plays the exact clarinet that her dad played throughout his later years of school bands. She plays it with confidence and makes us proud. Marissa is on the honor roll and continues to love school. This year Marissa has also started taking confirmation classes at church and has thoroughly enjoyed them when she’s caught up on her homework.

Joshua is almost 8! Our little man is now in the 2nd grade. He thrives to do his best in all that he does and truly loves school. He is a wonderful student and enjoys helping and encouraging other children in his class. Joshua not only enjoys math, but is a reading machine. He can start a chapter book and be done with it in a couple days. Joshua played his 3nd season of soccer this fall and had a BLAST! Joshua enjoys reading to his little sister, playing sports and singing in the church choir.

Sophia just celebrated her 4th birthday! She had a Prince and Princess theme birthday party where several of her friends attended her Royal Ball. Sophia adores her sister and brother. She can’t wait until they come home from school so she has someone to boss around. Sophia continues to enjoy going to a MOMS group with me, dressing up, coloring and playing with her friends.

Kevin and I are doing well. Kevin continues to work for American Specialty Health and he just completed his 11th year in May. The company just moved to Sorrento Valley area of San Diego last month. He no longer gets to commute into downtown San Diego. He misses the downtown life and options that it has to offer, but is adjusting quite well. I am keeping busy substitute teaching, being a chauffeur to and from the kids’ activities, going to MOMS groups at a local church, getting up early and heading to the gym, and helping out at the school when I can. With my spare time, I continue to update my BLOG. That allows me to keep in touch with many of you. You can check it out at: www.the5bergerons.blogspot.com.

Joshua Student of the Month!

We are so incredibly proud of our little Joshua! He just received the Student of the Month award. We totally surprised him and he had NO CLUE that he was getting the award. His teacher told us earlier that week and we decided to make him be surprised by it this time. He was clueless as to why daddy was home on a Friday AM and that he took Marissa to school, but was baffled as well as disappointed that his dad didn’t take him to school. Actually, he was crushed. But, I pulled him out of his funk, we got to school, he sat down for the Friday Flag Awards Ceremony and watched as he normally does. Daddy snuck in and so did my mom and Frank. Joshua got called up for his award and once he got in front of the school, he noticed his daddy standing right behind me and next to them where my mom and Frank. He was beaming, so surprised, so shocked and yet so proud. I’ll never forget that look on his face! PRICELESS!!! My little guy can give me such a hard time at times and be such a stinker, but he truly is a great student and a boy with a big heart! It’s really neat when another teacher notices that and recognizes him for those qualities.

Marissa's 1st time as an Acolyte

We cannot believe that Marissa is now in 6th grade. She has graduated from Children's Choir and is in confirmation. With that comes the responsibility of being an acolyte on Sunday mornings. Marissa has always disliked fire, but lately we have told her that in order to light the candles she'd have to work on getting over that phobia rather quickly. Marissa did a nice job lighting the candles at church on November 28th. Now she will have to hang loose until the end of January to light them once again. She's pretty fortunate that she doesn't have to light them during advent because our church has a wreath that requires a lot more lighting or many more candles.
