Surfing Lessons-July 17, 2010

I was so fortunate to get surfing lessons from the Surf Mama contest that I entered. WOW, was that a fun and amazing thing to do that I would have never done if I didn't win. Even though I never fully rode a wave into shore, I did get up for a few seconds. I can understand why people can get a surfers high. To be out there in the open sea in the crisp water is just breath taking. This is the first time i have been out there with contact lenses in so I was really about to see everything. The water was crystal blue and just refreshing. I was also very fortunate to get a patient surf instructor...he was so good with me and very encouraging. He also let me kids get up on the board a few times. We all had a lovely day at Moonlight Beach! A memory that we will never forget!

Meet Shirley

Shirley is a sweet little Maltipoo that belongs to the Garduno Family. We are so glad that they took us up on the offer to watch her. She's a sweet 7 month old pup that does nothing but love on all of us. She doesn't yelp, whine, bark, or even smell like a dog. We are all quite smitten by her! The kids are supposed to be taking care of her, but you know how that is. But, Shirley knows where her bread is buttered and makes it up in the evening by snuggling on the couch with me. The kids love having the doggy around and it's good responsibility for them. They do enjoy walking her and take turns feeding her. Yes, you guessed it...they don't like poopy duty....but I explain that goes with the territory of having a dog. Any ways, her little poops are nothing to be concerned about.
I know I am going to miss our little friend dearly when she leaves to go home. In the meantime, we are all enjoying our 4 legged house guest & I will miss my nice peaceful early AM walks with her.

Happy 4th of July

WOW, hooray for the red, white and blue! I have to say that I really wanted to be in Utah with The Sybrowsky Family this year. They certainly do know how to throw a 4th of July celebration in Provo. The Stadium of Fire is something we attended when I was just months pregnant with Marissa. The most amazing fireworks show that I have ever seen in my life!
Well, we didn't make it this year...maybe one year before the kids are grown we can take them all.
This year we are home and Kevin is working the day before the 4th. We had a neighborhood parade that the kids participated in. They had a blast. We had the patriotic music blasting and the kids truly enjoyed being with their neighborhood friends. What a fun way to start the 4th of July weekend! Happy Birthday, Amercia!

San Diego Fair

The kids and I had a nice trip to the San Diego Fairgrounds. The kids loved seeing the animals and looking in the exhibits. We even got to see a pig race! The kids had fun seeing their friend's Grandpa at the Master Gardeners Exhibit. He was able to tell us about what we could do to get rid of certain garden pests. The flowers in the exhibit were spectacular!
Marissa got to be a hair model for one of the curling irons...she had all sorts of curls on her head. Joshua got to hold some exotic birds...all is all the day was good.
The whole fair smelled so delicious! We got to chose only one special treat. We could have truly engorged on so many goodies. The kids chose to purchase the homemade potato chips.....they were delicious! Very good choice, even those those funnel cakes and chocolate covered bacon were calling my name! HA HA....well, not the choc late covered bacon or deep fried butter...but so many things looked so appetizing. Good thing for me that they goodies were so overpriced that I wasn't so tempted to purchase them.
On our way home we picked up Buca De Beppo at Curbside and took it home. I didn't even have to cook dinner & the kids gobbled din din up without a complaint! OH how I love these long summer days!
The summer is going fast and we are keeping very busy! I just keep planning things to keep the little ones from bickering. Here are some pictures from our day at the fair.

Happy 90th Birthday, Nana!

Joshua and I had such a lovely time visiting with family we hadn't seen in ages. Many of which Joshua has never met, but he still had fun. We took a nice little plane trip up to Oregon for my Grandma's 90th Birthday! What a blessing to still have her in our lives.
Joshua got to do so many things, we went to Cannon Beach, played with cousins, went to the park, rode the train, toured downtown Portland, took walks around town, went to a State Park, and even made icecream. Oh the memories he made will last a lifetime.
