This is great! I'm a winner!

Well, not really, but my friend sent this to me and she sure had me fooled for about one minute! I was trying to figure out how'd I'd claim my prize...LOL!

Q and U Wedding...January 16, 2009

This has got to be one of the most memorable events that Joshua's Kindergarten teacher does with her class year after year. The kids are already mastering their site words and some have taken off and started to read. The teacher ALWAYS wants the children to remember that when they see a "Q" in print then a "U" will follow. You see they are stuck like glue...the Q&U together forever. So, she has a ceremony for the "Q" and the "U" so the children will always remember that you will always see a "Q" with a "U".
Today was the big event. Joshua was so excited to wear the bow tie and help the "Q" and "U" get married. The girls were so cute with their little veils and the boys were too handsome in their BIG bow ties! They were all grinning from ear to ear. After they tied the knot, they had a nice reception complete with healthy carrot cake and juice. Thank you, Mrs. Meyers for once again making learning fun and very memorable for our kids. Marissa still remembers the day she saw "Q" and "U" get married in Kindergarten and she was so excited that Joshua also got to be a part of it.

Disneyland

We had a lot of fun with the kids at Disneyland on Sunday. For the first time in weeks it was not crowded and we were able to get on many of the rides with minimal wait. Kevin loves the River Raft ride and since only Marissa wanted to get wet with him. Joshua, Sophia & I went to the Redwood Park. I thought it was so fun to tape Joshua's reaction when he slid out of that log. In his typical fashion...he cannot take NO as an answer. He could have slid all day!


Another one of Joshua's favorite activities to do at the Redwood Park is to swing down the zip line! Here he goes!!

Our Students of the Month!

Marissa was so excited when she came home from school on Monday when it was announced to her by her teacher that she was getting the Student of the Month Award. Joshua had been excited because before we went on break he found out he got Student of the Month. Marissa was so happy for him. It was really nice to see that she was genuinely happy for him, and not a bit jealous. Over the break she congratulated him several times and told him that Student of the Month was a big deal and that he had to have done really well in all he does at school to get it. Monday when Marissa came home from school and announced that she was also getting the award with Joshua on Friday, Joshua then turned all the excitement on her. He congratulated her many times and told her she also did so well to get the award. Then they told me I needed to take their picture together for the BLOG. So here they are in their genuine excitement for each other.
